CIA Data Analysts help fill intelligence gaps and advance operational objectives by exploiting and analyzing digital data.

  • Able to complete security and medical evaluationsAs a Data Analyst Officer at CIA, you'll utilize your knowledge of computer networking, digital forensics, hacking, and programming to evaluate and analyze digital and all source intelligence information to identify key adversaries and assess how they operate and interact in cyber environments. Using strong critical thinking skills and a variety of digital analytic and/or forensics tools and methods, you will extract valuable information from digital data and create a range of products that explain your findings to inform operations, drive collection, and support customers.Data Analyst Officers triage, review, and identify items of intelligence and operational interest from technical collections and other datasets. You will leverage advanced methods to analyze data sets and create and refine capabilities to exploit large data sets quickly and accurately.Data Analyst Officers also identify and prioritize intelligence gaps, determine the appropriate collection actions needed, and drive the collection process.Data Analyst Officers work in the Washington Metro/Northern Virginia area.     • Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields:
      • Computer Science
      • Computer Engineering
      • Cyber or Information Security/Assurance
      • Digital/Computer/Network Forensics
      • Telecommunications
      • At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale is preferred
      • Programming/coding/scripting experience
      • Critical thinking skills
      • Analytic and research skills
      • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple technical areas; including but not limited to:
        • Network traffic analysis
        • Operating system administration
        • Network security
        • Incident response
        • Digital forensics
        • Vulnerability and malware analysis
        • Offensive security/penetration testing
        • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
        • Strong curiosity and willingness to take initiative
        • Attention to detail
        • Ability to work individually and on a team in a diverse, rapidly evolving digital environment
        • Participation in offensive, defensive, or analytical "capture the flag" competitions
        • Red, Blue, or Purple team experience
        • Ability to successfully complete projects with large or incomplete data and provide solutions
        • Familiarity with mobile device forensics
        • Familiarity with malware investigations or incident response cases
        • Familiarity with databases: LevelDB, ELK, or Structured Query Language (SQL)
